Why does Furhat use a projector?

Furhat uses a projector to display expressive, animated faces on its mask. This enables natural facial expressions and makes it easy to customize the robot's appearance, including eye color and size, skin tone, facial hair, age, gender, and other facial features, without changing the hardware.

Does Furhat have a battery?

No. Furhat is powered by an external power adapter for continuous operation.

How does Furhat connect to the internet?

The robot can connect to the internet via WiFi or Ethernet, including hotspots or tethering. However, restricted networks such as some academic networks which require a log in, may require additional assistance from your IT department.
The robot does have the ability to host its own local network to allow access to its Web Interface and the Furhat Realtime API without requiring an internet connection.

Does Furhat work offline?

Furhat typically requires an internet connection. However, it can also operate offline when using local AI models and the Realtime API, depending on your setup.

Does Furhat support ChatGPT or other LLMs?

Yes. Furhat AI Creator currently uses a selected combination of language models. However, Furhat supports the use of any LLM in your custom-built Skills or through the Realtime API.

Can I use my own AI model?

Yes. Furhat supports integration with your own AI models and external services through the Realtime API. Learn more about Furhat Realtime API.

Can I develop without owning a robot?

Yes, Our SDK, which includes a Virtual Furhat, is currently available for anyone to download for free to develop and test applications/skills. Although slightly limited, this very closely resembles the behaviour of our physical robot.

What programming skills do I need?

It depends on your use case. Furhat AI Creator is a no-code platform, while the Furhat SDK and Realtime API enable developers to build custom applications and integrations.

How long does it take to receive a Furhat robot?

Delivery typically takes around one week, although it may vary depending on your location. Contact our team for a more accurate delivery estimate.

Can I rent Furhat for an event or a short-term project?

Yes. Furhat is available for selected events and short-term projects. Contact our team to discuss availability and your requirements.
