The 9th Furhat Conference on Social Robotics

Agentic Social Robots in HRI

Wednesday Oct 15th  5:00-6:30 PM CET (11:00-12:30 PM EDT)

Welcome to the 9th Furhat Conference

Themed "Agentic Social Robots in HRI” the conference will take place on Wednesday October 15th at 5:00-6:30 PM CET (11:00-12:30 PM EDT).

As social robots become increasingly integrated into our daily lives, the question of agency and the ability of robots to act autonomously, make decisions, and meaningfully influence interactions has taken center stage in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI). This conference explores the implications of endowing robots with agency: from the opportunities it creates for richer, more natural collaboration between humans and robots, to the challenges it raises in terms of trust, ethics, accountability, and design. Together, we will examine how agentic social robots are redefining the boundaries of interaction, and what this means for the future of HRI research and applications in education, healthcare, workplaces, and beyond.
